social network; style statement

关于Social Network: 1. The initial rumblings mentioned Sorkin and Fincher had teamed up as writer/director–OK, now you have my full attention. Strip away剥离, 抽开 all the hype surrounding this movie, and those two guys are the real reason I went to the theater last weekend. 2. To win at the level these folks are winning at, you need to know each and every day that you are the absolute best at what you do. It's just that simple. Think about it. 3. Don't mess with twins who row crew(赛艇 In the United States, high school and collegiate rowing is sometimes referred to as crew.) with old money from Connecticut. 4.Today's digital action is on the Left Coast. In the movie, things didn't start happening until Zuckerberg moved out west to Palo Alto. Suddenly, he has an angel investor(An angel investor or angel (also known as a business angel or informal investor) is an affluent individual who provides capital for a business start-up, usually in exchange for convertible debt or ownership equity. A small but increasing number of angel investors organize themselves into angel groups or angel networks to share research and pool their investment capital.) and $500,000. He opens his first office. The pieces start falling into place. 5. Throughout the movie, he could be found wearing his trademark flip flops人字拖. And, with that style statement风格特征 he's certainly not alone. Not in specifically wearing flip flops, but in adopting a more casual style for today's workplace. More and more, we're seeing dress matter less and less. It's a hot debate, but at the end of the day(also by the end of the day something that you say before you say what you believe to be the most important fact of a situation, when everything else has been taken into consideration 最终, 最重要的. At the end of the day you will have to decide where you want to live. The committee interviewed many applicants for the post, but at the end of the day made no appointment. Sure we missed our best player but at the end of the day, John, we just didn't play well enough to win the game. At the end of the day, what matters is that you're safe.), big ideas win in business. 6. Is Zuckerberg being crass粗鲁愚钝的? No. Is he being arrogant? Yeah, a little. Confident? Surely. As it's portrayed in the movie, Zuckerberg crosses the line from out-and-out外廓尺寸, 最大尺寸的 confidence over to arrogance a little too much. 7. Throughout the movie, you hear the phrase "wired in" thrown around. It's a term they use to explain when a programmer is concentrating on creating lines and lines of code. What they're really saying: "Stay the hell away from him. He's in the freaking zone!" In even more simple terms: He's focused. Don't interrupt him. 8. perv short for pervert. Someone perceived by the speaker as being sexually obsessed or promiscuous (rarely a true pervert), a person who displays behavior suggesting a sexual obsession, Short for pervert, but not typically used in as serious a fashion. A deceptive fuck that gets off on selling people worthless info as it were fact. A person who specializes in a field of "feeding" its surrounding persons with useless bullshit. style statement: Last month in Domino magazine I came across an article that really intrigued me. The piece was about these two women in Vancouver named Carrie and Danielle who specialize in a kind of personal branding. They offer what's called a "Style Statement" to individuals looking to refine their personal style, just a simple two word phrase that boils your style down to it's essence. Q: Can you tell us what a Style Statement is? A: Your Style Statement names your authentic self. It is a compass[ˈkʌmpəs] for designing a life that reflects the true you. From your wisdom to your wardrobe; from your longings to your living room, your business, finances, and the parties you throw -- your Style Statement is where your essence meets your expression. Your Style Statement helps you make more powerful choices. Confusion costs energy, time and money. Clarity creates ease. With your Style Statement as a grounding rod(A rod that is driven into the earth to provide good grounding.), you'll have far fewer "what was I thinking?" moments. Q: What's the process? How do you retrieve the essence提炼精华 of someone's style? A: It‘s a one-on-one, open conversation. We pose a series of questions, from playful to profound, and we listen...very intently. Clients get to imagine, reflect on, and share what matters most to them. After about an hour, we take a few thoughtful minutes to ourselves, and then we present the client with their Style Statement and its precise definitions.

牙科英语: Examination, Scale and Clean: In addition to daily brushing and flossing(用牙线清洁牙缝 dental floss), visiting the Dentist every six months for a regular examination and clean, is important for maintaining good oral health and hygiene, and for early detection of any dental problems. A scale and clean involves the removal of tartar牙垢 (calculus) from the tooth surfaces by special dental instruments. Plaque菌斑, a soft, sticky film containing bacteria which builds up on teeth, can be removed by normal brushing. However, if plaque is not removed, it hardens to become tartar, and if left untreated, it will damage healthy teeth and gums, and can cause tooth decay, gum disease, supporting bone loss leading ultimately to tooth loss. Regular dental checkups牙科检查: Going to the dentist regularly helps in several ways. For a start, you get to know the dentist, the staff and the routine. But, most importantly, you catch problems early when they are simple and easy to treat. That means there's less likelihood of having to have a major and possibly more uncomfortable procedure. You also develop a trusting relationship with your dentist, and hear about new advances that will improve the health of your teeth and your experience at the dentist.
