Gru and his minions steal a shrink ray from a secret base in Asia but the up-and-coming super-villain, Vector, who was also responsible for the Pyramid theft, immediately steals it from Gru, as revenge for freezing his head earlier. Gru attempts to break into Vector's fortress to get the shrink ray back, but is defeated by numerous booby traps( A booby trap (捕鼠器, 陷阱, 机关) is a device or setup that is intended to kill, harm or surprise a person, unknowingly triggered by the presence or actions of the victim. As the word trap implies, they often have some form of bait designed to lure the victim towards it. However, in other cases the device is placed on busy roads or is triggered when the victim performs some type of everyday action e.g. opening a door, picking something up or switching something on. Booby traps should not be confused with mantraps which are designed to catch a person. Lethal booby traps are often used in warfare, particularly guerrilla warfare, and traps designed to cause injury or pain are also sometimes used by criminals wanting to protect drugs or other illicit property, and by some owners of legal property who wish to protect it from theft. Booby traps which merely cause discomfort or embarrassment are a popular form of practical joke. Mantraps are physical security devices or constructions designed to entrap a human. In modern physical security protocols, a man trap refers to a small space having two sets of interlocking doors, such that the first set of doors must close before the second set opens. They are also known as air locks in the security industry. In a manual man trap, a guard locks and unlocks each door in sequence. An intercom and/or video camera are often used to allow the guard to control the trap from a remote location. Metal detectors are often built in, in order to prevent entrance of people carrying weapons. Such use is particularly frequent in banks and jewelry shops.). Gru, faking his credentials as 伪装成 a dentist, made by his minions at random, adopts the girls from Miss Hattie's Home for Girls, planning on using them to infiltrate Vector's base(use them as a pawn. ) so he can steal the shrink ray back. However, Gru has much difficulty nurturing them properly between their own rambunctiousness ( rambunctious [ræm'bʌŋkʃəs] adj Informal boisterous; unruly. The girls then suggest a day at a vibrant theme park - Funland; Gru agrees, believing he can leave the girls there, but when he attempts to leave them upon a rollercoaster, he is told by the attendant they cannot ride without an adult - to his dismay. He is then dragged around the theme park for the day, eventually warming up to the girls after they compliment him over blowing up a rigged carnival game(blow up Fig. to fall apart or get ruined. Gru becomes conflicted矛盾不已 and Dr. Nefario, seeing this as interfering with the plan, arranges for the girls to be returned to the orphanage. Around the same time, Mr. Perkins informs Vector (who is actually Mr. Perkins' son) of Gru's possession of the shrink ray and the adoption of the three girls, inciting ( incite [in'sait] vb (tr) to stir up or provoke to action. To provoke and urge on: troublemakers who incite riots; inciting workers to strike. incite someone 怂恿, 鼓动 to something to excite or provoke someone to something. Gru proceeds with his plan to steal the moon, successfully shrinking it to fit in his hand (with a brief prior attempt by Vector to latch onto the rocket where he receives an electrical shock), but is too late to attend the recital. He then finds a note from Vector, who has kidnapped the girls, telling him to give him the moon in exchange for them交换. After arriving at Vector's lair, Gru readily makes the trade做这个交易, but Vector reneges (back out 食言, 不守信用) on the deal, flying off with the girls and the moon, much to Gru's anger. Meanwhile, Dr. Nefario has discovered that the effects of the shrink ray are temporary; the bigger the object was originally, the faster it will regain its original size. As the moon starts to expand in Vector's ship, Gru, Dr. Nefario, and the minions pull off a daring mid-air rescue of the girls just as the moon explodes out from Vector's ship and launches itself back into orbit, with Vector trapped on the moon forever with one of Gru's minions still floating in space. Some time later, Gru has readopted the girls and treats them as his daughters, writing them a bedtime storybook framed around his own experience - named One Big Unicorn.
