interchangeable. I searched the archive and I saw some said they are
synonym but some have different opinions. Also, I looked it up in a
dictionary and it says: If you describe someone as pudgy, you mean that
they are rather fat in an unattractive way. It seems has derogatory connotation. So I am not very clear about the usage. 回答1: I would definitely use 'chubby'. As you've noted, 'pudgy' is not necessarily a compliment. However, people talk about a baby's chubby cheeks all the time! Being overweight is a significant problem in America, so I would definitely not consider them complimentary,
when referring to an adult. I would be a bit surprised, but perhaps
they can be complimentary in other English-speaking countries. 回答2:
"Chubby" is a friendlier word than "pudgy." Both terms are generally
used as descriptions of body types. "Chubby"只用做定语不用做表语 has limited use as a modifier for certain parts of the body (as in "chubby cheeks"), "pudgy"矮胖的 does not -- it refers to overall body type only (being both overweight and of short stature ). 2. on the ball 知道, 知悉, 了解情况, 熟悉情况. 明白人. A pincushion 针包, 针线包(sowing kit) (or pin cushion) is a small cushion, typically 3–5 cm across, which is used in sewing to store pins or needles with their heads protruding so as to take hold of them easily, collect them, and keep them organized. Pincushions are typically filled tightly with stuffing, so as to hold pins rigidly once placed. Magnetic pin cushions are also used, though technically they are not "cushions" they serve the same basic function of holding pins neatly. The most popular design, a tomato with a strawberry attached(西红柿形状的cushion甩出一个strawberry形状的东西来) was most likely introduced during the Victorian Era. 恋爱中?: Union J thought they had received the best news of their lives when they were personally invited by Selena Gomez to support her on tour. The jury's still out on whether animal experiments are really necessary. We asked people to comment on the latest male fashions, but it seems the jury's out. ) whether or not the two really did enjoy a night alone together, but could the 21-year-old American babe and the 20-year-old Briton make things work? We find out in the latest Hitch or Ditch. Hitch: George could practically be singing about Selena when he says 'She sees her life through TV screens, all her friends in magazines' in Union J's new song Beautiful Life. And we think these two really could have a beautiful life together! They both have deep, brown eyes, bouncing brown hair and dreamy smiles – together they would be almost too cute to handle可爱的让人受不了. With both having strong musical talent, they could write and record together – if they could keep their hands off each other. Ditch: Of course, successful types would struggle to find time for each other. Selena has a hugely successful music and film career under her belt and it sounds like she's only going to be more and more busy as she retires from music early to focus on her acting. Meanwhile, George and the Union J boys are just at the beginning of their careers with their debut single dropping next month ahead of their first tour of Britain. Would they have time to see each other with their careers heading in different directions? There is also the issue that Selena's ex is Justin Bieber – meaning this pair would find themselves on TV screens and in a lot of magazines if they did want to make a go of things( make a go of it (idiomatic) To attempt to make a success of it; especially, to attempt to make a living. He quit his regular job and tried to make a go of it as an artist. ). It would be like looking into the sun if they were to head out together. We'd love it if they could work around their hectic schedules to start something special together. Selena needs a good guy to go out with and sweet George seems to fill that requirement.
RBA贿赂丑闻: The man who exposed alleged bribery in two Reserve Bank subsidiaries was told "you don't fit in, f--- off" at the height of 正值, 高峰时 his whistle-blowing. Former company secretary of reserve company Note Printing Australia (NPA), Brian Hood, alerted various directors of NPA and its sister RBA polymer bank-note company Securency in 2007 that the two companies were using overseas agents whom he suspected of paying bribes to win note-printing contracts. In a joint Fairfax Media and Four Corners investigation Mr Hood gives his first public interview to reveal the pressure he faced attempting to expose the suspected corruption. The Reserve Bank, NPA and Securency kept Mr Hood's repeated whistleblowing hidden from police until 2009 - seven months after he'd been made redundant - when the media reported on the company's corrupt business activities. The RBA was then forced to call in the Australian Federal Police, which charged Securency and NPA with bribery in 2011. But Mr Hood and a second RBA banknote company whistleblower, James Shelton have revealed that several former directors of the two companies - including former long-time chairman of both companies, Graeme Thompson - have never been investigated over allegations they breached the Corporations Act by allowing extremely high-risk business practices. Today, Fairfax Media has also exposed confidential RBA files that reveal that NPA used a "frontman中间人( I. A man who serves as a nominal leader but who lacks real authority. II. a performer, as a singer, who leads a musical group. )" to secretly liaise with Saddam Hussein's brother-in-law and bodyguard in an illegal effort to sell plastic banknotes to the dictator at the height of UN sanctions in 1998. The Australian Securities and Investments Commission has also never investigated whether any senior RBA company officers breached whistleblower protection laws in the manner they treated Mr Hood. Mr Hood said he was "gobsmacked" by Mr Thompson's conduct because it clearly exposed the RBA company to possible bribery. Even after the arms dealer was sacked, Mr Thompson and other directors approved further payments to him in return for his lobbying of Malaysian officials. In 2011, Malaysian authorities charged the arms dealer with using NPA money to pay bribes. Confidential bank documents reveal that in May 1998 NPA launched a secret project codenamed "Delta" to secure $80 million that Saddam Hussein had "already allocated" to buy Australian plastic note technology. RBA officials working for NPA said this money could potentially be accessed by funnelling 打个洞 them through ( funnel I. To move through or as if through a funnel: tourists funneling slowly through customs. II. to concentrate or focus or be concentrated or focused in a particular direction. they funnelled their attention on the problem.) a Jordanian bank "with the green light of SH [Saddam Hussein]". The RBA officials used a frontman to cover up NPA's use of the notoriously corrupt Arshad Yassin - Saddam's brother-in-law and bodyguard - as a "facilitator(A facilitator is someone who helps a group of people understand their common objectives and assists them to plan to achieve them without taking a particular position in the discussion. Some facilitator tools will try to assist the group in achieving a consensus on any disagreements that preexist or emerge in the meeting so that it has a strong basis for future action. Business facilitators work in business, and other formal organisations but facilitators may also work with a variety of other groups and communities. It is a tenet of facilitation that the facilitator will not lead the group towards the answer that he/she thinks is best even if they possess an opinion on the subject matter. The facilitator's role is to make it easier for the group to arrive at its own answer, decision, or deliverable. This can and does give rise to organisational conflict between hierarchical management and theories and practice of empowerment. Facilitators often have to navigate between the two, especially where overt statements about empowerment are not being borne out by organisational behaviours.)". Legal expert and Sydney University associate professor David Chaikin, who reviewed the Project Delta files for Fairfax Media, said they showed a "very strong prima-facie case" that the RBA officials involved in the Iraq trip had breached UN sanction 661. The sanction banned countries from engaging in any business dealings "which promote or are calculated to promote等同于推销" the sale or supply of any goods to Iraq. Project Delta was stopped in September 1998 after John Hines, an Australian diplomat in the Department of Foreign Affairs' Middle East branch, learnt of it知悉, 知晓 and wrote a furious letter to NPA warning that its "informal meeting with Saddam Hussein's brother-in-law may have already breached Australia's obligations in international law". Rather than stopping all high-risk business practices when Delta was wound down in 1998, NPA and Securency directors embraced bribery-prone activities, including paying foreign agents huge sums in return for them convincing overseas officials to award contracts to the RBA's banknote companies. But the Australian Federal Police and ASIC have never investigated the former directors of the two companies for overseeing these high-risk practices. Under Australian corporate law, directors must act with care and diligence to ensure their companies do not engage in corruption. One example cited by Mr Hood involved Mr Thompson in 2007 ordering NPA to wire $400,000 in taxpayer money to a Malaysian arms dealer who was helping the company to win banknote contracts and who had already been paid more than $2.5 million. The money was sent despite Mr Hood's pleas not to pay the dealer because he was suspected of being corrupt. "The inaction 不作为, 渎职 by ASIC has been astounding. The parent organisation [the Reserve Bank] and the boards of directors have all got their responsibilities. Clearly there has been failings ... and they should be investigated," said Mr Hood, who was the NPA's company secretary between 2004 and 2008. Greens deputy leader Adam Bandt this morning said most Australians would be shocked by the revelation the Reserve Bank "was using their money to line up dirty deals with Saddam Hussein". Mr Bandt, who has used his position on the Parlialment's economics committee to question the RBA's handling of alleged corruption within its banknote firms, said corporate regulator ASIC had to explain why it had not investigated the scandal. "ASIC throws the book at ( throw the book at someone Fig. to charge or convict someone with as many crimes as is possible. to punish or criticize someone as severely as possible. It was the fifth time Frank had been arrested for drink-driving, so the judge threw the book at him. I made the police officer angry, so he took me to the station and threw the book at me. The judge threatened to throw the book at me if I didn't stop insulting the police officer.) a lone global-warming activist who sends out a press release, yet turns a blind eye to repeated claims of sustained corporate corruption in the Reserve Bank," he said. "No banknotes were ultimately supplied to Iraq. On the records available to the Bank, the project went into abeyance( abeyance [ə'beiəns] I.
